Corfu International Airport has a rich history beginning with the landing of the Heston Phoenix on March 22, 1937 with Efstratio Xidi as HCAA governor. During World War II, the airport was used by planes of axis where they found shelter after martial enterprises. Corfu grew and in 1965, became the International Airport it is known as today.
