The Tour de France, the most prestigious and best known bicycle race in the world, covers 3,500 kilometers throughout France and a bordering country. The event typically runs for 23 days and starts Saturday July 4th 2009. This 96th Tour is made up of 21 stages and will traverse mountains, country roads, cities, and villages, attracting riders from around the world.
