"Over the years we have experienced a rapid increase in mobile device usage at our events, and therefore the demand for high-performance WLAN access. We searched a long time for a solution that could be easily used for events like fairs and congresses. With Xirrus, we found the perfect Wi-Fi solution to meet the requirements of a modern WLAN infrastructure for more than 10,000 concurrent users,"
-Klaus-Peter Doerr, Deutsche Telekom
For years, service providers ensured convenient voice services through roaming agreements and technologies between operators. Users traveling from one cellular network to another received voice services automatically on their devices, offloading network discovery and authentication to their handset and the network. All this happened transparently to the user. This is not the case with data and Wi-Fi networks, but with the passage of Passpoint, these conveniences now exist for public Wi-Fi hotspots.

The Xirrus WI-FI Certified Passpoint Array allows operators to deliver indoor and outdoor, wide-coverage hotspot broadband services. Offering multiple radio configurations from traditional 2 radio solutions to 16, Xirrus has become synonymous with high-performance, managed wireless network infrastructure.
Wi-Fi provides users a seamless and transparent access experience at public hotspots and eliminates the headaches associated with provisioning data service to a Wi-Fi user for operators.
Wi-Fi users roaming outside of their home Wi-Fi networks can now receive data network services without a manual log on process. With Passpoint, the mobile device can silently identify the Xirrus Passpoint certified Array without user intervention, even while the device is still in the user’s pocket. With Passpoint enabled devices, smartphones, tablets and laptops can automatically self-discover and self-associate to their home service network and be granted access without hitting the local paywall or login page.
